AUTHORS TO VISIT HAMMERSMITH & FULHAM
Three well known children’s authors will visit Hammersmith and Fulham to participate in the Read in the Park event
Giles Paley-Phillips (The Fearsome Beastie), Bethany Wivell (Sam and the very tall Sunflower) and Rob Sprackling (Born again Ben) will be reading from their books at the Read in the Park event being held on Wednesday 30 July from 1-4pm in Normand Park on Lillie Road in Fulham.
Read in the Park is a joint venture of four local charities who are looking to promote books and reading among children, as well as provide an opportunity for other summer activities such as gardening. Moya O’Hara of the Hammersmith and Fulham Urban Studies Centre explains, “We envision an afternoon of care free fun and entertainment for children living in the borough. Kids will be captivated by a professional storyteller, challenged by the word game contest, intrigued by the nature trail, all before getting their hands dirty planting seeds and tending to the gardens. It’s certain to be a perfect summer activity for local area children.”
In addition to the Urban Studies Centre, Doorstep Library Network, Hammersmith Community Gardens Association and Thank U have collaborated to ensure local area children have a special day to remember. All primary school aged children are welcome to attend this free event which will be held rain or shine.
