Excellent A level results

Bishop Challoner School once again celebrated excellent A level results maintaining its high standards for the second year running. This year students achieved an incredible 100% pass rate of A*-D, with 81% A*-C grades.

Students received excellent results in Chemistry, Dance, English Literature, History, Italian, Mathematics, Music and Physics with 100 percent A*-C grades.

‘The students have worked incredibly hard and we are very proud of their achievements,’ said Headteacher, Mrs Paula Anderson. ‘The support and dedication of the staff and parents has enabled the students to gain places at universities of their choice.’

Students have been accepted at a number of prestigious universities to study a diverse range of courses including Brighton to study Accountancy, Cardiff to read History & Philosophy, Nottingham to read Physics, Portsmouth to read Politics, Roehampton for Dance and Leeds to study English and Theatre.

One student has applied to CAE Oxford Aviation Academy, the largest flight training network in the world. Once he passes his final entrance exam, he can join the academy for an intensive 18 month degree course spending six months out in Phoenix Arizona, after which he qualifies as a Co Pilot with one of the top UK Airlines.

Not only have our students gained some amazing results, they have had the opportunity at Bishop Challoner to grow and develop into well respected, confident and delightful students ready to face the challenges of the wider world

Many individual students achieved better than, or in line with, their baseline predictions demonstrating commitment to their studies and passion for learning with the support of the school’s outstanding teachers.

Celebrating GCSE Success

Bishop Challoner School has also enjoyed great success with its GCSE results. Despite changes to the first wave of the new numerical grading system in mathematics and English, pupils achieved excellent results, with 83% gaining at least 5 A*-C grades (or numerical equivalent) including maths and English Language – a 14% improvement on last year.

Effective monitoring of progress and support strategies has enabled the pupils to reach their potential in so many subjects. More pupils achieved A*-B grades this year with an impressive 100% A*-B pass rate in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Dance, Design Technology, Performing Arts and Spanish. The school extends special congratulations to those who gained an impressive 6 A* or equivalent.

‘The hard work and determination of our pupils gave them much to celebrate on results day,’ concludes Mrs Anderson. ‘I would like to congratulate them on these outstanding achievements.
